Geometry Dash Editor Beta: Your First Step into Level Creation
Geometry Dash Editor Beta offers players a hands-on experience with level creation fundamentals directly in their browser. This early-access editor provides the essential tools to experiment with core Geometry Dash mechanics, making it an excellent starting point for aspiring creators.
Core Editing Features & Controls
Pressing the ‘P’ key activates the editor interface. Here, you can place a variety of objects with a simple mouse-click. Navigate between different block types—including Normal Spikes, Default Blocks, Jump Pads, Short Spikes, Platforms, and Slopes—using the up and down arrow keys. Fine-tune your placements by rotating objects left or right with the corresponding arrow keys. For cleanup, a dedicated red ‘X’ block serves as the deletion tool.
Additional quality-of-life features enhance the editing process:
- Toggle swipe-based deletion with the 'S' key.
- Enable grid snapping for precision with the 'N' key.
- Activate a visual grid overlay with the 'G' key.
Remember, the core gameplay remains: use the
spacebar to jump and test your creations.
Current State & Future Roadmap
This is a beta version designed for experimentation. As such, you cannot create fully playable, exportable levels with it yet. Please note that the physics for slopes is not fully implemented, and performance may decrease when placing many objects.
The developer has outlined a promising roadmap for future updates, which includes:
- More blocks, lines (platforms), and jump pads.
- Additional spikes and background (BG) triggers.
- A greater variety of slopes and orbs.
Perfect for Learning & Prototyping
This lightweight editor is perfect for beginners looking to understand level design basics or for seasoned players to quickly sketch out ideas without the complexity of the full game editor. Dive in and start building your first Geometry Dash concepts today!
